Conservative MP Tim Loughton has been involved in a fiery clash with TalkRADIO host Patrick Christys over the Government’s strategy for preventing migrants from crossing the English Channel. It comes as a record number of migrants have attempted the perilous crossing. Mr Christys and Mr Loughton debated the best way to tackle the humanitarian crisis but the conversation soon turned heated when the MP turned on the radio host for answers.
Mr Loughton asked the TalkRADIO host: “What would you do if you were the British Government if the French decided to export a lot of their migrants and land them on the beaches in Sussex?
“Well I like to think I would be able to run a border policy that would not allow that to happen,” replied Christys.
The MP demanded to know: “How, how, how?”
Christys began to respond with: “Because I would do the things that I promised….”

The conversation at that point descended into a spat with both men talking over one another.
“No Tim you need to stop here,” snapped Christy.
“Because it is not my job, it is your party that promised to stop this.

“You are on the Home Affairs Committee for goodness sake,” added the host.
“I would love it, love it whether it cans votes or not for us to be able to pick up those migrant boats that are on British territorial waters with Border Force, the coast guard whoever and take them straight back to Calais or where ever they came from in France,” replied the MP.
“And that was my solution, I said if the French were to do that it would cut off that trade stone dead.
“Because people would not be paying up money if they knew that there was a 99 percent chance they are going to be picked up and taken back where they started from.”
