Bodybuilder Kali Muscle, 46, suffers heart attack and rushed to hospital

Chuck Kirkendall, also known as Kali Muscle, was recently hospitalised after suffering a heart attack and has fortunately lived to tell of his near-death experience.

Kali is known throughout the fitness industry for his incredibly hulkish physique and entertaining persona.

The 46-year-old bodybuilder and fitness influencer gained a lot of recognition for his workout and comedy-related videos on YouTube, which has gained him over 2.49 million subscribers.

As well as the online content, he has seen great success with acting – being featured on US adverts for Snickers, Taco Bell, Honda and a variety of others.

He's also featured in blockbuster hits like Wonder Woman and has secured some roles in TV.

But while things were taking off for the muscle man, he admittedly neglected what was most important, his health.

His health scare comes after bodybuilding legend Shawn Rhoden tragically died at the age of 46 following a fatal heart attack, the same age as Kirkendall.

Kali says he's suffered from edema, which is swelling due to trapped fluids in the body's tissues, in his feet and ankles which is a sign of heart issues.

He said that people would try to warn him about it but he never paid much attention as he didn’t think anything was wrong.

"Being a tough ass, you ignore people saying that like man I ain’t got no heart problems or nothing like that," he said.

The muscle man explained going to the dentist last week, then the day after taking some meds, having a nap, and woke up with chest pains, Fitness Volt reports.

After taking some stuff to alleviate what he believed was heartburn to no avail, his girlfriend took him to hospital and he needed emergency surgery.

It turns out that the muscle man's left artery that supplies blood to the left side of the body was clogged 100%.

Kali claimed that he didn't remember his mother or father having a history of heart issues.

But he did have migraines and swelling in his feet during his younger years and took a sting of diuretics for bodybuilding of which he also mentioned.

He added: "I’ve always been concerned so I don’t want to say it’s a wake-up call."

Kali also had a physical a few years ago and was told about something relating to his heart, but he ignored that too.

The muscle man now says he understands how important it is to monitor your health.

Kali should now be out in a day or so and the doctor says everything else is looking good.

He said: "Make sure you guys take care of your health. That’s what I’ve been talking to you about anyway.

"And you know, God is using me as an example. ‘Cause as we just saw, you know, RIP Shawn Rhoden.”
