‘Charming’ Kate Middleton is ‘what you see is what you get’ says Scouts chief

Kate Middleton has been described as "what you see is what you get" by Scouts CEO Matt Hyde.

The Duchess of Cambridge became Vice President of the movement last year after joining as a volunteer shortly after joining the Royal Family in January 2012.

Mr Hyde told the Mirror : "She's totally charming and very good at putting people at ease.

"As you imagine, whether you're a scout leader or a young person, when you're meeting the Duchess of Cambridge some people are in awe or starstruck.

"Behind the scenes she's consistent with what you see in public.

"I think there are some people in the public eye who have such resonate with the public, and that's because what you see is what you get."

He added: "She's fantastic at asking the right questions and listening to people.

"She's naturally good at engaging with people all ages. She really does bring the best out of young people and she really wants to hear their stories.

"It's always such an exciting moment when you get to spend time with her and you can see her shine but also bring the best out of others.

"She's not afraid to muck in and get involved and the children love that.

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'look in fierce competition' with William and Kate

"Some of the younger ones have a view of what's going to arrive as a princess, like a Disney princess or something like that, so that always takes a bit of getting used to."

The Duchess steps in to attend events when the organisation is keen to shine a spotlight on certain parts of their work, a recent example being when she visited a group in an area of deprivation as Scouts worked to reach different parts of the community.

She also joined the Cubs' 100th birthday celebrations and was involved to their project to offer the fun and excitement to four and five year olds.

  • William and Kate's video 'shows double standard with Harry and Meghan', expert believes

Kate's involvement with Scouts has brought them into the spotlight and encouraged thousands more people to get involved.

It comes after the Daily Star reported that a new video of Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrating their marriage and family appears to contradict claims made by Prince Harry, according to an expert.

Body language expert Judi James said the couple's overjoyed smiles "fly in the face" of Prince Harry's claim that his brother is "trapped" in the Royal Family.

Harry made the statement during an explosive interview with US TV host Oprah alongside his wife Meghan Markle.

Judi told the Daily Mail there is no evidence Prince William is "trapped" in the touching footage released on Thursday, April 29, to mark his 10-year wedding anniversary with Kate Middleton.

She said: "This film seems to fly in the face of Harry's recent claims about William being 'trapped' in the royal family and unable to act freely."
