Driver pursued out of Wyoming dies in Weld County crash on U.S. 85.

A driver pursued by authorities in Wyoming died Thursday afternoon in northern Colorado when the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. on U.S. 85 in Weld County, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The highway is closed in both directions near Eaton.

The driver was wanted in Minnesota on a parole violation, the CSP said in a news release.

A trooper and an Ault police officer deployed stop sticks and the suspect driver swerved to avoid the apparatus and hit a CSP vehicle, causing the patrol vehicle to roll. The trooper in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

The suspect driver’s vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed into a ditch, the release said. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died in the crash.
