‘Funny, honest and loyal’ Brit, 21, stabbed to death at Spanish house party

Tributes have flooded in for a 21-year-old labourer who was stabbed to death at a Spanish house party.

Grieving friends said Ben Nesbit was a "good lad" and "funny, honest and loyal".

A man hunt is underway after Ben, of Woodvale, Merseyside, was stabbed in the neck during an altercation in the early hours of Thursday, October 1.

Two British men had got into an argument at a property in Ciudad Quesada near Alicante on the Costa Blanca, news agency Efe reported.

There is no suggestion Ben was at fault, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Ben is survived by his beloved nan and sister.

He had told a close friend about his upcoming holiday, joking: "I've got a pair of shorts and £50 in my pocket and I'm going to Spain."

Close family friend Laura Tasker, from Ainsdale, paid tribute to the much-loved young labourer, telling the ECHO: "Ben was a big part of our life.

"He was my son's best friend and he was always here, my daughter liked him. He stuck up for my son, they stuck up for each other and I really respect him for that. My son's in bits.

"Him and Ben were always together, they were like brothers. They had each other's back all the time, they understood each other."

Laura said Ben, who died just one month before his 22nd birthday, had recently started working with her son, Danny, as a labourer and was so proud to be earning money.

She said: "I cant even listen to music at the moment without getting upset. He had everything ahead of him.

"Ben started working with Danny last year and I was so proud of him. He said 'things taste better when you buy them with money you've earned'. I was so proud. He was doing really well and we were all really made up with him.

"He was loved by so many people and he was a good lad."

As well as being a close friend to Danny, 17, Laura said Ben looked out for her daughter too.

She said: "We're so devastated. Danny would never have a bad word said about Ben by anybody. He's just cut up that he's never going to see him again.
