Heartbreak as mum who collapsed at airport on holiday ruled clinically dead

A mum has been declared 'clinically dead' after suddenly collapsing at an airport ready to head home from holiday.

The parents of Melissa Kinsella whose heart stopped in Turkey have said their "hearts are broken forever" after damning medical tests showing she won't recover.

Known as Missy to her loved ones, the 30-year-old was abroad with her partner Jay Smith, his family and three children – Chloe, Beau, and Romi.

On May 15, the family from Moreton, Merseyside were set to fly back to the UK when Melissa suffered a seizure and was rushed to a local hospital.

Medics put her on a ventilator after finding swelling on her brain and heart.

The hospital charged Melissa £1,800 a day for her hospital care in intensive care, and, according to the Liverpool Echo, she couldn’t be released until the bill was paid.

A crowdfunding campaign was set up to raise the £42k required, and Missy was flown back to the UK on Wednesday May 24, via air ambulance.

But in a heartbreaking Facebook post her family have now said she will not recover.

Missy's mother, Michelle, wrote: "Our hearts are broken for ever after 12 days of fighting for our beautiful daughters life test prove she is clinically dead we have no words to express how we feel but thank everyone who helped us in any way to bring her home."

Thousands of people have paid tribute and expressed their condolences to Missy's family following the public post.

One poster said: "My heart is breaking for you. Absolutely devastating. Much love to you all xx"

Another said: "I am absolutely heart broken for you all.. i can't believe it I'm so sorry this has happened. Missy will be so so missed by many her beautiful face her giggle and her smile will forever live on in her beautiful babies. Thinking of you all at the sad and heartbreaking time. Sleep tight gorgeous girl xxxxxxx."

While a third added: "So sorry to hear this. Utterly heartbreaking. Can’t begin to imagine the pain your family are going through. Rest in peace Missy."
