A nine-year-old girl has been praised by police officers for coming to her mum’s aid and fighting off a robber before chasing him down the street.
Surveillance footage shows Danielle Mobley and her young daughter, Journee Nelson, walking up to their car at the side of the road in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.
A man, police later claim was 29-year-old Demetrius Jackson, suddenly runs up to the woman while she is putting her shopping away, tackles her to the ground and attempts to grab her purse.
As he does, Journee runs into frame and throws some punches at the thief's head.
She told WSVN 7NEWS: “I fought back. I had to save my mom.”
After being pushed to the floor in the scuffle, the young girl got up and chased the suspect about five blocks.
The robber got away with Danielle’s purse, which contained a mobile phone, gum, several bank cards, a Coach wallet, some cash and her gun permit.
Police arrested Jackson two days later and charged him with robbery and battery.

West Palm Beach Police Chief Frank Adderley said: “I wouldn’t recommend that you confront an individual like that, but in the heat of the moment things happen.
“I bet he was shocked when she kicked him right in the face because he definitely could tell on the video that he was not expecting that, and her actions were perfect timing in this particular situation, and I think she hit him pretty hard.”
Mum Danielle said: “I’m very proud of her that was her initial reaction. I wish sometimes things could be a little different because she is still dealing with this mentally.”
