Police have blasted a stupid woman for dangling off a high-rise balcony – just to get a picture.
Video shared by Australian news outlet 9News shows the woman hanging off the railing of the balcony on the 11th floor at the Seaside Resort in Mooloolaba on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
A female friend is seen standing on a chair to take a picture for her while she attempts to let go of one of her hands.
A man, who filmed the moment from a nearby building, is heard saying: "That is f***ing dumb, isn't it?"
He told 9News: "The next photo might have been her on the ground.
"I just thought one slip and she’s gone."
Sunshine Coast Superintendent Craig Hawkins told reporters the woman hanging over the balcony and the friend taking photos could both face charges over what he described as "foolish" behaviour.
He said: "They are putting their lives at risk for something as trivial as a photograph.
"I can't impress strongly enough how foolish this behaviour is.
"For me, I just cannot comprehend why a young person, or any person, would be putting their lives at risk for anything as trivial as that.
"These are people that can and should be put before a magistrate."
Just a month ago, a woman plunged to her death while trying to take a selfie at the 260ft Boroka Lookout in Australia's Grampians National Park.
The police said the 38-year-old climbed past a safety barrier and is believed to have slipped. Rescue services spent six hours to recover her body from the scene.
