The family of James Bulger is urging a parole board to deny the release of their son's murderer.
A letter to the board was sent by the family of Bulger after they were recently told they could not attend the parole hearing of Jon Venables, who could be set for a release from prison.
Venables has previously been released from behind bars with a new identity in 2001 but was placed back under arrest in September 2008 under affray. The board are now ruling, within the next two weeks, on whether to release Venables.

A family source has since revealed they wrote to the individuals in charge of approving or denying the release of Venables, and pleaded with them to keep him behind bars.
The unnamed source, speaking to The Sun, said: "The family has written to the decision makers, saying they believe Venables is a danger to the public and to children, and that he needs to be kept locked up.
"It would destroy them to see him a free man again. It should be a cut and dry case. There should be no need for debate or for taking extra time. He’s a monster. It’s not like he’s gone away and led a quiet life. He’s repeatedly in trouble. Over and over."
Venables has been denied parole in the past, with the 41-year-old jailed back in 1993 and first released in 2001 under a new identity, as was fellow lag Robert Thompson.
Venables was recalled for hoarding child abuse images in 2010 and again in 2017 for possessing a paedophile manual. He was later refused parole in 2020.
Another decision on his parole is set to be made within the next two weeks, with a verdict expected by December 11 on whether or not the murderer walks free.
He and Thompson, who has not reoffended since his release in 2001, abducted, tortured and murdered two-year-old Jon Venables when the pair were just 10-years-old, prompting outcry against their horrific crime.
