A 14-year-old boy killed in southwest Denver, who was found on a baseball field near a recreation center, was shot, stabbed and and beaten.
Josiaz Aragon’s cause of death was “multiple sharp and blunt force injuries with a gunshot wound,” according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. The teen would have celebrated his 15 birthday on Wednesday. He died on Monday afternoon near a baseball diamond at the Southwest Recreation Center, 9200 West Saratoga Place. His manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
A passerby saw the boy lying near the baseball field and called 911, police said earlier. Aragon did not live near the recreation center and investigators are trying to determine why he was there. Initially police said the victim showed no signs of trauma. An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).
