Stansted Airport has reopened after being partially evacuated, it has been confirmed.
The terminal was vacated after a suspicious package was located in the security area on Saturday afternoon.
Essex Police responded and military explosive experts assessed the package.
A man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
One passenger told the Daily Star: "Everyone has been asked to move out of the terminal. No one [is] allowed to enter. "
A person tweeted on Twitter: "Stansted Airport has been partly evacuated. People asked to wait outside or contained inside. What is going on please?"
Another user said: "Got to Stansted Airport just in time for an evacuation. Should have known there would be a catch with a £10 return flight."
While another person said: "Forced to evacuate a specific zone after luggage control at Stansted Airport. At waiting zone everything is normal."
One eyewitness said that people kept lining up at the entrance while sirens were heard "blaring" from inside of the terminal.
Essex Police said: "We're currently at Stansted Airport following concerns about a suspicious package in the security area. A cordon's been set up.
"Passengers have been evacuated from that area of the airport & brought to a position of safety. Military explosive experts will assess the package."

The force added: "A man has been arrested in connection with this matter and remains in custody whilst investigations continue.
"We want to thank all passengers and members of the public for your patience and understanding."
According to an eyewitness, passengers have been allowed to start boarding their flights, despite earlier reports of all flights being grounded.
A Stansted Airport spokesperson said: “Following reports of a suspicious package in the security area a partial evacuation of the terminal has taken place as per standard procedure.
“This has resulted in our security processing area being temporarily closed, and this may impact passengers due to travel on outbound flights at this time.
"Arriving flights are operating as normal. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight with their airline.”
