Man uses jiu jitsu to stop would-be kidnapper trying to snatch baby on street

A martial arts fighter has pinned a man to the floor and stopped him from attempting to snatch a baby from a mother's stroller.

Good Samartian Brian Kemsley and his girlfriend were at Madison Square Park in Manhattan, New York City, when he heard a scuffle from a crowd gathering on the street on Monday afternoon.

He soon realised a man was grabbing the baby from the mother, who was also holding another child in her arms.

In the footage filmed by onlookers, Brian quickly takes the man down using his jiu jitsu skills and soon has him restrained on the ground.

Another man comes to his aid and holds onto the would-be kidnapper's feet while others called the police for help.

The terrified mother is seen quickly leaving the area with her child.

Brian shared the incident on his Instagram and said: "A couple people tried to stop him, he wouldn’t let go of the stroller, and things escalated.

"Here’s the thing, I don’t enjoy jujitsu, I don’t think training is particularly fun, but I have a lot of respect for it as it is absolutely essential in a street fight and self defence.

"Cops took 30 minutes to show up. I had to hold him down for over 15 mins before park security even came around to cuff him. "

He also told local media PIX11 that he called the man was yelling 'How do you know it’s her baby, this could be my baby!'

The man was reportedly taken to a hospital for a checkup.

Brian was praised a hero by viewers who thanked him for stepping in to help the mother.

One commented: "You're a hero! Nice work Brian!"

"You are Superman!" another wrote. "As a mum I’m so grateful you were there for that women!"

"Good for you for defending that woman and doing something about it," a third added.
