A furious wife claims her marriage has been left in "tatters" after her husband paid a lapdancer £80 for oral sex.

The unimpressed spouse claimed the strip club – York's Black Orchid – was "ran like a brothel" and demanded that the City Council shut it down.

"I know it takes two, but it should not be allowed – this is one broken family because of it," she fumed, alleging that the venue was offering sex "on a plate" to its punters.

The authority took no action over her complaint, however, which came to light following a Freedom of Information request.

Stag and hen specialists Last Night of Freedom found that it was the only licencing complaint in an eight-year period linked to sexual venues in the historic city.

"Politicians are desperate to portray York as being awash with alcohol-fuelled groups causing chaos, but time and time again, the facts show that this is complete hyperbole," said the specialists' managing director Matt Mavir.

Local Labour MP Racheal Maskell has claimed stags and hens have brought "devastation" to the city, while a council-backed guide has been published to try and influence the behaviour of visitors.

A previous request to North Yorkshire Police, meanwhile, revealed just seven police incidents had been linked directly to stags and hens since January 2021, with just one lapdancing bar complaint since the beginning of 2016.

The lapdancing complaint itself dates back almost seven years, when the wife in question claimed her "idiot" husband visited the now shut down Black Orchid after being handed a flyer.

Once inside, she claimed her guilt-stricken husband admitted months later to touching the Thai dancer "between the legs" before she performed the sex act.

However, the woman’s complaint wasn’t filed until almost a year after the alleged tryst, with the authority confirming that "no action was taken in relation to this complaint due to the period of time between the alleged incident and the complaint".
