Melania Trump ‘loves’ that Donald is off Twitter and says he’s ‘much happier’

Melania Trump "loves" that her husband Donald has taken an enforced leave from Twitter and believes he's much happier now, it has been reported.

Former US President Donald Trump had his Twitter account suspended on January 7 after his supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn November’s election result.

Twitter said Mr Trump's account had been suspended due to "severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy" and that his account would be permanently blocked if the tweets were not removed.

On January 8, Twitter then permanently suspended the account due to the "risk of further incitement of violence".

Trump had told protesters online "I love you" as he advised them to go home at the same time repeating unverified claims about election fraud.

On January 13, the US House of Representatives voted by 232 to 197 to impeach Trump over “incitement of insurrection” and his trial got underway on Tuesday, February 9.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Mr Trump's trusted aide and former campaign manager Jason Miller said that this is the first time in years he has seen the president “truly relaxed" despite his recently-started impeachment trial.

"Only 45 other people in US history have experienced what it is like to have the world on their shoulders… and to be able to exhale, knowing that it's not all on you for the first time in four years," said Mr Miller.

But despite the trial hanging over him, Melania is reported to be happy about her husband's enforced leave from social media.

Mr Miller claimed: "He’s said that not being on social media, and not being subject to the hateful echo chamber that social media too frequently becomes, has actually been good.

“That’s something the first lady has backed up as well. She has said she loves it, that he’s much happier and is enjoying himself much more.”

It comes after Donald hosted a Super Bowl party at his Mar-a-Lago resort without Melania.

The former US President is normally present for the annual event for the National Football League finale at his Trump International Golf Club party in Florida, which Melania usually attends.

But a video of Mr Trump arriving at the club showed him entering formally dressed, wearing a navy suit and a blue tie, and without his wife, The WashingtonExaminer reports.

The Critic reports that Melania's absence prompted "rumours of domestic discontentment" among guests at this year's party.

Mr Trump is reported to have eaten dinner, watched the first half of the game on the big screen and then left at halftime – although this is reportedly when he normally leaves the event.
