Britons have been warned to brace for torrential downpours and potential flooding as the Met Office issued several weather warnings across the country.
The weather service has urged residents to remain vigilant as flooding of homes and businesses is likely” as many areas experience 30mm of rainfall.
The weather warnings come as two named storms, Storm Elin and Fergus cause chaos across the nation and bringing winds reaching 70mph.
The four yellow weather warnings – all of which forecast heavy rain – cover huge swathes of the country.
The most serious warning is for south-west Scotland, with a Met Office warning in place from 11am to 11pm today.
The Met Office has said that this area could see heavy rain bring some disruption to transport.
Residents have been warned to be vigilant and prepare for flooding.

Two yellow weather warnings cover north-east and south-east Scotland from 12pm today until 9pm.
The Met Office said: “Rain, heavy at times, is likely leading to some flooding and disruption to transport.”
Bus and train services will be hit with journey times taking longer.

Another yellow weather warning covers north-west England, particularly Cumbria.
From 5pm today to 3am on Monday the Met Office warned that this area could see “further heavy rain bringing some flooding and disruption to transport”.
This is just a week after heavy snow blanketed Cumbria, forcing many drivers to abandon their vehicles in the streets.
