A 25-year-old migrant has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after posing as a minor, illegally crossing the border, and murdering the 46-year-old father-of-four who took him in.
Yerv Noel Medina Ulloa pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the 2021 death of Francisco Javier Cuellar, Florida State Attorney Melissa Nelson said.
Medina Ulloa travelled from Honduras to the USA's southern border, where he was apprehended by border authorities.

But instead of being turned away, Ulloa was allowed to stay in the US after giving agents the fake name Reynel Alexander Hernandez, and lying that he was 17 years of age.
Federal policy Title 42 expulsion states that unaccompanied immigrant minors are to be placed in shelters, rather than being refused entry to the country.
After he was given Notice To Appear in court, Ulloa was released, and flown to Jacksonville, Florida.
It was in Jacksonville that the Honduras migrant was picked up by Francisco Javier Cuellar and welcomed into the Florida citizen's home, shared with his four children.

Cuellar gave Medina Ulloa a job at the family store, and treated him "like a son", according to Ulloa's mother.
It is unclear as to why Cuellar took Medina Ulloa into his home.
The Florida man's 18-year-old daughter, Mary Carmen, told The Post she believed Ulloa was on one of Biden's alleged " ghost flights ", relocating underage immigrants into US cities:
“My dad told me one day he was going to the airport, and then this guy came out of nowhere and was at work the next day,” she told. “I didn’t really ask questions.”

Just days after taking the illegal migrant into his care, Cuellar was stabbed to death by his Honduras guest.
Police followed the trail of blood from Cuellar's body in his living room, discovering Ulloa wandering near a lake, covered in blood.
According to local police, Ulloa had been caught on camera stabbing his surrogate father “numerous times and repeatedly hitting him with a chair.”
The then-24-year-old confessed the murder early on, calling his mother and crying, “I killed him. I killed him,” as well as texting a friend “that he had ‘killed Uncle Francisco.'”

Border police didn’t uncover Medina Ulloa's true identity until a week after he slaughtered Cuellar.
State Attorney Melissa Nelson's comments on the tragedy blame the US government's attitude toward border control:
“As we have seen time and time again, the federal government’s failure to secure our nation’s border has led to a travesty in a local community.
This time, tragically, it was our community after an illegal alien murdered an innocent man. This 60-year sentence, however, ensures Medina Ulloa will never be able to harm another law-abiding citizen.”
