The Prince of Wales has “nervously” revealed the secrets of his royal diet after he was given a grilling during a nutrition quiz.
William was on a trip to Cornwall for the first time since being given the title of Duke of Cornwall, and while he was there he spoke to nutritionist Monique Hyland at a community “urban space”.
“He was a little bit nervous to begin with when I asked him what he ate yesterday,” Monique told Cornwall Live afterwards.

“He was OK to start with as he had a healthy breakfast, but then he admitted someone had got him a ‘rubbish sandwich’ for lunch, and he had a chocolate brownie and a glass of red wine.”
Monique joked: “He made the point of all things in moderation. I wanted to say that was very subjective but I’d already pushed him on asking what he ate.”
According to his nutrition sheet, William’s full intake for the day was two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea with milk and sugar for breakfast; the “rubbish sandwich” and a glass of water for lunch; an evening meal of white fish with mushroom; a banana and a chocolate brownie as snacks; and two or three cups of coffee and a glass of red wine.
The Duke of Cornwall’s tour of Newquay Orchard followed a visit by the then Prince Charles in the summer.
The location is of particular interest to the Royal Family as it is next to the Duchy of Cornwall’s Nansledan development.
Newquay Orchard supports local folk, many of whom struggle financially or have learning difficulties or mental health problems. They are able to grow their own food at the orchard, which boots their confidence and health.
The prince posed for a selfie with 21-year-old student Lily Dickinson, who plucked up the courage to ask the future king for a snap to show her granddad.
She told William that she enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, and he replied: “Everything seems better in the outdoors.”
He also spent time chatting to some home-educated kids who visit the orchard – and told them he was sorry that it was him and not Santa who was visiting.
