Row before wedding pushed Meghan and Kate’s ‘relationship towards crisis point’

Meghan Markle slammed the door in Kate Middleton's face when she tried to apologise to her, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly left in tears by her sister-in-law, saying Kate had been "upset about something" over the flower girl dresses in the run-up to the Royal Wedding.

And while Meghan said she had forgiven the Duchess of Cambridge, a source to The Times claimed that the 39-year-old shut the door in her face when she took flowers to say sorry at Nottingham Cottage during Meghan's last visit to the UK.

In the explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said: "There wasn't a confrontation and I don't think it's fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her.

"What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do, but that happened to me."

It was initially reported that "Meghan left Kate in tears" over her strict demands regarding Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid's dress for her wedding with Prince Harry.

It was then claimed that the "rift" began when Kate said the bridesmaids should follow royal protocol by wearing tights, which Meghan disagreed with.

But this weekend, a source claimed to The Telegraph that the Duchesses fell out after Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress didn’t fit – which meant they had to schedule more fittings ahead of the big day.

In an explosive interview, which was aired on Sunday, March 7, on CBS and Monday (March 8) on ITV in the UK, Meghan told Oprah that "nothing is what it looks like" in royal life and claimed it was actually Kate who made her cry.

The Duchess of Sussex said: "My understanding and my experience for the past four years is that it’s nothing like what it looks like."

Other bombshell revelations included Harry claiming he felt "trapped" in the Royal Family until meeting Meghan, the Duchess saying she told her husband"she didn't want to be alive anymore" and claims that baby Archie was not made a prince because of concerns about his skin tone.

Prince William and Kate are said to feel "desperately sad" about the estrangement of Harry and Meghan and hold out hope for reconciliation, reports say.

One aide spoke of the estrangement from the family as seemingly "irreversible".

The interview aired in full in the UK on ITV on Monday night and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
