Royal fans devastated after Queens beloved Emma the horse seen neighing goodbye

Royal fans have been moved by images of the Queen's favourite horse observing her funeral procession as it passed through Windsor.

The Queen's coffin was brought to Windsor Castle in a hearse following this morning's state funeral service at Westminster Abbey.

There have been several emotional pictures from today's proceedings, including members of the Royal Family crying, and those of Fell pony Carltonlima Emma have also melted hearts online.

One person wrote on Twitter: "This has well and truly done it for me," followed by several crying emojis.

Another said: "Emma, The Queen’s horse, brought out to watch her Monarch pass by. That brought a lump to my throat."

"Oh dear me, between this and the corgis waiting for her I’m in tears – yet again," a third said.

On a similar note, another added: "This totally broke me .. and the corgis losing their Mum x."

At one point Emma was seen stepping backwards. Describing this moment, one Twitter user said: "Looked like she curtsied! Lifted her front leg up & back."

Emma was the horse that the Queen enjoyed riding most through the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Queen's head groom Terry Pendry, writing in Horse & Hound magazine in 2020, said: "[Emma] has been a wonderful servant to Her Majesty and is still going strong at the age of 24 as one of the Queen’s riding ponies."

This comes after heart-breaking images of two the Queen's corgis awaiting the arrival of her coffin at Windsor emerged.

Muick and Sandy were seen on leads being held by royal guards, looking particularly forlorn.

A second posted: "I really do feel bad for the fur babies, unlike humans they won't fully understand what's happened to their Mamma."
