Salt Bae's Knightsbridge restaurant has come under fire recently for its menu's massive prices.

Nusret Gökçe, aka Salt Bae, has revealed the salary of his staff does not quite match the whopping menu price tags, as he advertised a Chef de Partie role for the restaurant.

A Chef de Partie usually works in one area of the kitchen is in charge of several cooks and assistants.

The job advert stated that they would pay a "competitive salary", and offer "excellent opportunities to develop a global career".

It then goes on to state that the successful candidate will be paid an hourly rate of £12 plus tips.

This means that the hourly wage is the same price as a portion of corn on the cob or mashed potato on the restaurant’s menu.

The advert for the vacancy at the steakhouse reads: "Amazing opportunity for an experienced Chef De Partie to join Nusret team in the new restaurant in London!

"As a Chef De Partie, you will be working with some of the finest ingredients from the UK and abroad in [the] one of the most famous steakhouses in the world.

"You will play a vital part in a large team and will support the Head Chef during service."

This latest vacancy comes after no candidates turned up to the restaurant’s hiring day last month. Nusr-Et put out a call for waiters, runners, bartenders, bar backs, kitchen porters and toilet attendants on Instagram.

But according to a statement made by a member of staff to The Sun, no one stopped by to drop off their CVS in spite of Salt Bae himself being at the restaurant to attract and welcome potential hires.

Who is Salt Bae?

Turkish chef, food entertainer and restaurant owner Salt Bae became an internet sensation in 2017 after pictures of him sprinkling salt on a steak in a flamboyant manner went viral.

His restaurant which opened in September this year has quickly become famous for its extravagant menu with some meat dishes, burgers and steaks being wrapped up in gold leaf.

Why are London restaurants facing a hiring crisis?

Statistics from the Office for National Statistics have revealed that job vacancies in the UK had reached a record high of 1.1 million in the UK between July and September this year, with online job postings also rising by 60 per cent in the hospitality industry between July 2020 and July 2021.

Nusr-Et is not the only restaurant facing a staffing crisis. Many restaurants in London have found it difficult to hire and keep staff with many having left the UK due to the pandemic and others struggling to come to work in the UK as a result of Brexit.
