Serial killer ‘wore women’s clothes and masturbated in sandwich bag to porn’

A serial killer had objects in his secret lair so vile they were prohibited as evidence, including extreme pornography, and homemade sex toys.

Serial killer Bradley Robert Edwards, 51, has been found guilty of the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon in Australia’s longest-running criminal investigation.

He was acquitted of the murder of Sarah Spiers, whose body has never been found and disappearance remains a mystery.

The former Telstra technician attacked Jane and Ciara in the eastern Perth suburb of Claremont, and had a secret lair where police discovered vile objects.

The evidence, which was covered in his DNA, was deemed so vile much of it was ruled too prejudicial for his trial by Justice Stephen Hall.

Police found no trophies from his two murders and two sex attacks, but discovered extreme pornography, homemade sex toys, and ideas for bizarre scenarios including rape, murder and abductions.

Detectives found the 2002 film Forced Entry, which graphically depicts the rape and murder of several women in California.

He also made edits to violent erotica stories, with modifications made to them between July 17, 2014 and December 11 2016 – 11 days before Edwards' arrest.

Edwards was also found to be sexually aroused by wearing women's clothing, which prosecutors claimed fuelled his fantasies.

A large collection of women's clothing was also discovered in his secret lair, and had been submitted by police who alleged Edwards stole items of women's clothes from clotheslines.

It is also believed he broke into or attempted to break into houses to commit sexually motivated crimes – a practice called snowdropping.

Justice Hall allowed the prosecution to use some evidence for the 1988 Huntingdale sexual assault, but Edwards pleaded guilty to the crime.

He also pleaded guilty to he 1995 abduction and Karrakatta Cemetery double rape of a 17-year-girl.

In the cemetery attack, Edwards grabbed the 17-year-old from behind, bound her with telephone cord, stuffed a sock gag in her mouth and her bound her ankles before he raped her.

Police also found sandwich bags and hair ties, which his estranged wife told police Edwards would masturbate into the bags and seal them with the ties.

His alarming behaviour is said to have begun at the age of 13 or 14 when a family member said they caught Edwards near an underwear draw in the 1980s.

Edwards was finally arrested on December 22, 2016, when the Police’s Tactical Response Group forced their way into is home and apprehended him.
