Sex beast phoned witness to his rape and threatened to kill her

A vile rapist called a witness from jail and threatened to chop her up after she made a statement against him.

Daniel Grattan, 29, was jailed after brutally attacking a woman and raping her, reports Echo.

The monstrous rapist also carried out a series of other horrific attacks on the woman, who has been given anonymity.

Grattan slashed the woman's face with a pair of scissors and also tried to burn her breast using a cigarette lighter during the traumatising ordeal.

The man from Wirral tried to bite the victim, and even kicked, punched and attempted to strangle her, as well as banged her head against a wall.

But the day after he was locked up – and gave two middle fingers to a judge – he threatened a witness who previously made a statement to police against him in the case.

In a recorded phone call from prison on the afternoon of April 3 this year, Grattan spoke to the woman, who replied: "Eeeeeee, why you ringing me?"

Grattan asked where her boyfriend was, adding "you little wrong un", and the woman – a witness to his physical assaults on the rape victim – told him to go away.

He said: "Someone's coming through your door later you f****** skinny little tramp, and you and your fella are getting chopped, you f****** little scruff."

Georgiana Panteli, prosecuting, said the call was then terminated and Grattan had pleaded guilty to a charge of malicious communications.

She said: "I would respectfully submit this is heavily aggravated that the defendant committed this offence within a day of receiving a lengthy custodial sentence for such serious offences."

Grattan admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and another charge, which cannot be reported for legal reasons, on the opening day of a trial.

He denied sexual assault by penetration and rape, but a jury unanimously found him guilty of both charges and he was sentenced on April 2.

The thug was jailed for 27 months for the assault, consecutive to a sentence of eight years for the rape, with an extended five years on licence.

Grattan, of no fixed address, was told in April that he must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
