Shoppers tackle rape suspect who ripped off womans underwear in supermarket

This is the incredible moment brave shoppers were filmed pulling a suspected rapist off a woman who was shopping in a supermarket.

Video shared on the Florida-based social media account Only In Dade shows a woman on the floor while a group of Good Samaritans rush to pull a man away from her.

The man, who wears white trousers and white top, turns around and runs towards the exit as a female shopper yells behind the camera: "Get out!"

One man places a chokehold around the suspect's neck while another few men help to get the victim up.

The incident took place in a Walmart supermarket in northwest Miami-Dade, US on Sunday (March 20).

Police arrested Bredan Harvey, 28, and took him into custody. He will face a charge of attempted sexual battery.

According to an arrest report, Harvey came up to the woman from behind and lifted up her dress.

He then grabbed her private parts and pushed her to the ground, ripping off her underwear.

Shopper Kayla Carter, who was doing grocery shopping at the time of the attack, told Local10 that she was left speechless by the incident.

"I don't even know what to say, I'm at a loss of words. Where is the protection?" she said.

"It's a shame, it's a shame there are kids that come here, there are families."

Alvaro Zabaleta, of Miami-Dade Police Department, told NBC Miami: "It wasn't somewhere isolated.

"He didn't care it was in the wide open. Because he was so brazen, investigators feel perhaps he may have done this before, and there may be more victims."
