Vail resident John Kuo, 41, has been identified as the skier who died in an avalanche last Thursday near Vail Resort at East Vail Chutes.
The manner of death is still under investigation.
The Vail Mountain Rescue Group and the Vail Ski Patrol responded to the scene Feb. 4 to find Kuo’s body had been “trapped in the slide,” according to a news release. Eagle County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Amber Barrett said CPR efforts were unsuccessful when teams found Kuo’s body.
“We were all devastated to hear about another avalanche fatality,” Barrett said. “It’s just tragic. We don’t want to lose anyone else.”
