Teacher filmed throwing pupil to the ground after kicking him out of lesson

A shocking video appears to show a teacher violently throwing one of their pupils to the floor.

The clip, filmed inside a classroom at Harrytown Catholic High School in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has spread like wildfire across social media.

It shows a male teacher confronting a pupil in a classroom doorway, then a brief scuffle breaks out after the teacher's instruction to walk away seems to fall on deaf ears.

The teacher then appears to grab the child and try to throw them to the floor. Both then appear to struggle for a few moments, before the teacher then appears to push the student once more – this time with some considerable force.

The incident appears to have taken place late last week, with the footage of the confrontation then being shared widely on social media and with the Manchester Evening News.

Stockport Council said bosses in the schools department are “aware of the incident” at the secondary school and the town hall is “following all appropriate due processes”.

A spokesperson for Harrytown Catholic High School said that at present they had nothing to add further to the statement issued by the local authority.

Tim Bowman, Interim Director of Children’s Services and Director of Education, Work and Skills at Stockport Council, said: "We are aware of an incident that took place at the school and we are following all appropriate due processes. We cannot comment further at this time."
