A bustling town in Northumberland offers tourists the opportunity to explore the beautiful beaches and famous mountains all in the same day thanks to its convenient location.

Morpeth, the main town in Northumberland, is famous for its market town charm featuring cobbled streets, a stylish highstreet and numerous options for eating out.

But one of its biggest selling points is the nearby beaches and mountains, with Cresswell Beach taking less than 20 minutes to reach by car.

For those looking to hike up the famous mountains, there are six nearby that offer different levels from beginners to those who are more experienced.

Quarry Hill, Northumberlandia, Berwick Hill, Beacon Hill, Camperdown and Heddon Laws all offer different hiking trails.

There is also plenty to do in Morpeth itself, with Sanderson Arcade offering a luxurious high street experience combined with live music and monthly events.

If you time your visit with the first Saturday of the month, you will be able to take a traditional shopping trip through Morpeth’s Farmers’ Market.

Here you will be able to find a whole array of local produce, including fresh pies, cheese, artisan bread and fruit chutneys.

There are also a number of walks you can take right from the town centre, with Carlisle Park offering woodland routes.

The River Wansbeck runs through the town, making it an idyllic, peaceful spot to sit down and take in the scenery.
