The podcast is set to launch this summer, with host Meghan chatting to historians, experts and women who have experienced being pigeonholed.
However, ahead of launching her new venture, the Duchess of Sussex is trying to trademark the word "archetypes", a word which has roots in ancient Greece and has been in used in England since the 1540s.

Archetypes, which will be hosted by Meghan, has been described by the duchess as "the podcast where we dissect, explore and subvert the labels that try to hold women back".
In a trailer introducing the concept of the podcast, the former actress said: "This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us. But where do these stereotypes come from? And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?"

Ahead of the podcast's launch, however, the Duchess of Sussex has made an application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the word "archetypes".
The application for the exclusive use of the historic word was made by Archewell Audio, one of the companies established by Meghan and Prince Harry after stepping down from the royal family.
This means the trademark for the word – if granted – would belong to Archewell rather than Spotify. The application is to trademark the word to cover a long list of entertainment services 'in the fields of cultural treatment of women and stereotypes facing women,' including podcasts, TV shows, DVDs, CDs, and streaming services.
However, the move to trademark the word could see Meghan facing legal pushbacks from companies that use the word in their names, such as skincare brand Archetypes, which is already trademarked.
The move to trademark the word has also been met with criticism, especially among Greek media, with one paper describing it as "both the dumbest and most audacious attempt at 'owning' a word".

Archetypes is a word derived from ancient Greek and has been in use in the English language since the 1540s. According to Cambridge, the word's definition is "typical of an original thing from which others are copied".
Its described as "the most typical or perfect example of a particular kind of person or thing," by Oxford and is defined as "the original pattern or model of which all things of the same type are representations or copies" in Merriam-Webster.
