Father's are given one of the most important roles in the world, to protect their kids and provide for their family – but these children tragically lost their lives after being killed by their own flesh and blood.

While many parents will celebrate Father's Day with their loved ones, others will spend the day behind bars after brutally abusing their positions as carers.

Sergei Bugorkov, 28, hit headlines this week after he battered his stepson Vova Pashchenko to death and then persuaded his mother to fake a chilling disappearance in Russia.

But this case is sadly one of many, with other murders being committed by parents around the globe.

Below the Daily Star have taken a look at five horrific cases which have shocked the world.

Dad ties baby's feet to pram and pushes it into the sea after row with wife

A furious husband allegedly tied his baby son's feet to his stroller and pushed it into the sea because his wife went partying without him.

Wael Nabil Salman Zureikat, 52, travelled to Pattaya, Thailand, with his partner and became furious when she left him to babysit.

The Jordanian tourist reportedly ''decided to kill'' their one-year-old by tipping the pram off a pier during their holiday in 2019.

Locals were left shocked after they discovered the baby floating in the sea and initially thought he was a "doll".

Speedboat captain Songsee Sunthornchai said: ''I was taking tourists to an island and on the way back I noticed a body floating in the water.

“I saw it from far away and thought it was a doll, but when I went closer I saw it was the body of a child and called police.''

When the body was recovered it was still strapped to the pushchair, reports The Sun.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyapong Ensarn confirmed that the father had confessed to the evil crime and Zureikat was arrested at an airport while trying to flee the country.

Man killed family to try and save them from horror apocalypse

Anthony Todt, 46, had brutally killed his wife, three children and the family dog under the belief he was trying to save them from an apocalypse.

Cops stormed into their two-story home in Florida and found the dad to be living with their severely decomposed bodies for over a week on January, 13, 2020.

Authorities identified the bodies to belong to Meghan Todt, 42, their sons Alek, 13, and Tyler, 11, daughter Zoe, 4, and their dog Breezy.

It was reported that Todt rolled over on top of Zoe until she suffocated and reportedly stabbed Alek who was sleeping.

He has been accused of suffocating and stabbing Tyler and his wife was also found with stab wounds.

Their bodies were discovered wrapped in blankets and their autopsies later revealed that there were toxic amounts of Benadryl in their systems.

It was reported that the dad was arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty.

However, he pleaded not guilty to the mass murder and later told the cops that his wife had agreed to kill the kids with him.

"Everybody needed to die in order to pass over to the other side together because the apocalypse was coming," jurors were told.

Authorities believe they were killed towards the end of December and said he later told the cops that he wasn't home when the killings took place.

Man killed his kids because they had 'serpent DNA'

Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, was charged with killing his two kids Kaleo, 2, and Roxy, ten months, because "he believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them".

The Californian surfing school owner confessed to taking his children to Rosarito, Mexico, and shooting them in their chests with a "spearfishing gun."

According to a court document, "he explained that he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife, A.C., possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children."

His wife Abbey reported him missing on August 7, 2021, after he suddenly fled their home in Sabra Barbara and took their kids.

He has been accused of dumping their bodies in a ditch near Rosarito and was arrested when he attempted to cross the border back into the U.S, reports People.

Details emerged this week of a letter that the dad had sent to a friend from his jail cell at the end of May this year.

"With God's help, I'm realizing how far away I was from the Truth," he said. "I shouldn't have spent so much time on these [conspiracy] theories, and just focused on being a husband and a father."

Father 'shot, stabbed and smothered son' with pillow because ex moved on

A father sickeningly shot his two-year-old son with a BB gun before stabbing him with a skewer and smothering him with a pillow to spite his ex-partner.

Lukasz Czapla, 41, was sentenced to life in prison last month for murdering his son Julius inside his home in Muirhouse, Edinburgh, in November 2020.

The twisted killer exploded with rage after learning that his former partner at the time Patrycja Szczesniak had started seeing someone else.

A police source said: “He sent texts to his ex which worried her enough she went down to the flat to see if her child was OK.

“When she arrived to what was a bloodbath, Czapla then ran from the house to his car despite being intoxicated with drugs and alcohol and drove dangerously from Muirhouse to the A90, through busy city streets full of traffic and pedestrians."

He was eventually caught after he caused a crash with another vehicle, reports Daily Record.

Mum Patrycja said: “Julius was murdered only for revenge. His dad wanted me to suffer, he succeeded and achieved his goal, at the cost of my beloved little boy’s life. He not only took Julius’s life but my life too.”

Father shot his baby girl because he wanted a son instead

Shahazib Khan was arrested on suspicion of killing his seven-day-old baby girl "because he wanted his first-born to be a boy".

The 24-year-old is accused of shooting Jannah five times at the family home in Minanwali, Pakistan in March this year.

He was arrested after a four-day manhunt was launched following the alleged murder of his daughter, whose name means "heaven" in Urdu.

The baby's relative Hidayatullah Khan said at the time: "A baby girl was born and he was infuriated."

A police spokesperson told VICE World News that he didn't turn up at the hospital when his daughter was born and had previously expressed his desire for having a boy.

It was reported that he stormed into the house with a licensed handgun and snatched her from his mother Mashal Fatima’s arms.

The tragic incident sparked outrage across the country and he fled from the home before eventually being captured by the police.
