The man who tragically died after being savagely attacked by two dogs believed to have been XL Bullys has been named and pictured.

Ian Price, 52, lost his life in the most horrific circumstances when he was set upon by the two beasts in Stonnall, the West Midlands yesterday (September 14).

During the attack, a number of people desperately tried to step in to try and get the dogs off Mr Price and police had prevented children from leaving school while the attack was ongoing for safety reasons, the Mirror reported.

Children at the nearby St Peter's Primary Academy were held for a number of hours. The BBC reported that they were initially let out the gate, before the school was alerted to the dog attack incident, they then sent out a text to parents to bring children back in, where they were held until 6pm.

During the horrific attack, Mr Price sustained a number of life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Emergency services – including armed police – were called shortly before 3.15pm.

This afternoon, police confirmed that both of the dogs were dead, as they continue to work to confirm their breeds. One dog died as it was being "restrained" and the other died after an injection given by a vet.
