{"id":26411,"date":"2023-10-23T11:10:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T11:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harvestmoonnews.com\/?p=26411"},"modified":"2023-10-23T11:10:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T11:10:27","slug":"welsh-tory-leader-pens-furious-letter-demanding-end-to-gb-news-ban-on-senedd-tvs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harvestmoonnews.com\/politics\/welsh-tory-leader-pens-furious-letter-demanding-end-to-gb-news-ban-on-senedd-tvs\/","title":{"rendered":"Welsh Tory leader pens furious letter demanding end to GB News ban on Senedd TVs"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Nigel Farage blasts decision to ban GB News from Senedd TVs<\/h3>\n<p>Welsh Tory leader Andrew RT Davies has penned a letter demanding the ban on GB News from the Senedd TVs is reversed.<\/p>\n<p>The channel was removed from the internal television system at the Welsh Parliament earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the Senedd&#8217;s presiding officer Elin Jones said that GB News was taken off following a broadcast that was &#8220;contrary to our parliament&#8217;s values&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Senedd members and staff wanting to watch GB News must now do so online.<\/p>\n<p>But in a letter to Ms Jones, Mr Davies raised concerns the move &#8220;could be open to legal challenge&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/139\/590x\/secondary\/Andrew-RT-Davies-5027661.jpg?r=1698058608171\"><\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;Firstly, while subtitle facilities are available to those watching GB News on television, this is not currently provided on streaming services.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a result, staff and members who are deaf or hard of hearing will be excluded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are similar concerns regarding audio description services for those who are blind or partially sighted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This raises the possibility that your decision breaches equalities legislation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Davies asked Ms Jones to confirm &#8220;what, if any, consideration was given to those with disabilities prior to your decision&#8221; and if legal advice was sought.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;I reiterate my previous comments and suggest that the most effective way to address these concerns is for the Senedd to reinstate GB News.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his letter on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said: &#8220;The Senedd GB News ban could be against the law.
