A model has been handed a suspended jail sentence and a heavy fine after breaking an injunction after a "revenge campaign" gone wrong.

Michele Spicer, 60, claims she was kicked out of her "mermaid haven" beach hut for being "too glamorous." She now faces a £53,000 court bill and a 24-week suspended prison sentence.

She got the boot from the hut after she clashed with locals in Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex, with what was described as "anti-social behaviour." Locals said she had been carelessly parking her open-top motor and blaring tunes out of it through the open roof.

The mood soured as Spicer became increasingly certain one of her fellow beach hut neighbours had been conspiring to get her booted out. The hut was finally taken away from her by the council in 2021.

Her eviction makes her the first person in 25 years to be removed from a beach hut in the area. She claimed her neighbours had not been fond of her because of her glamour. In 2021, she said: "I think it's because they're jealous of me because I'm a model and I'm very glamorous with a sports car."

It was then Spicer began a "revenge campaign" against a woman who ended up moving towns and getting a new job as a result, the High Court in London heard. That neighbour, who has been kept anonymous, was forced to wear sunglasses and a hoodie when going to the shops to avoid being recognised by Spicer.

The woman’s barrister, Kate Strange, said the incidents had ruined her client’s life. She: "The harassment complained of by the claimant included verbal abuse, pestering behaviour, intimidation and photographing, and recording of the claimant without her consent."

Spicer had been banned from the waterfront when the harassment began but ignored an injunction and continued to pester the unnamed woman. She admitted a series of breaches of the injunction, which saw her post "abusive content" to Instagram.

Her barrister told the court the model was "extremely remorseful" and pointed out there had been no physical contact between her and the victim. He added the beach hut had been Spicer's "pride and joy," and losing it had been very impactful on the defenant.

Spicer appeared before Judge Richard Pearce for the breach and was found in contempt of court. Her sentence is suspended for two years.

Spicer paid £15,000 for the "mermaid haven" beach hut and started spending her time there in 2020 following a divorce.
