Five people have been hurt after a hospital floor allegedly collapsed. <\/p>\n
Works reportedly fell from the third down to the second floor during work on an extension at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. <\/p>\n
The Manchester Evening News has reportedly been informed by a source that labourers were pouring concrete when the incident took place on Wednesday, November 16, at 11am. The outlet reports that none of the injuries sustained were life-threatening. <\/p>\n

According to the outlet, a the source said: "During the pour of the concrete, the temporary floor fell through. Five people fell through and multiple people were injured. [There was a crash] and everyone ran out. [They] thought the whole ceiling was going to come through."<\/p>\n

Two people were taken away from the scene on stretchers, with three more said to have walked away with "cuts and bruises". One is understood to have suffered broken bones. <\/p>\n
The same source continued: "It was a shock. You wouldn't expect something like that to happen." It is reported that police were in attendance at the site. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "An incident was attended by two ambulances, a response vehicle, HART and supported by an operational commander." NWAS did not provide further details.<\/p>\n

The work is understood to be being carried out by VINCI Building, part of the VINCI Group, via subcontracted workers. VINCI Building said in a statement: "We can confirm that there was an incident at the Manchester Royal Infirmary on Wednesday, 15 November. An investigation is currently being carried out, which means we are unable to comment on the details of what occurred. Works to this specific area of work will not recommence until the investigation has been brought to a conclusion."<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said: "We are aware of this incident and making enquiries."<\/p>\n
