I’m A Celeb: Nella Rose and Nigel Farage discuss immigration

Nigel Farage signed up for I’m A Celebrity with the hope of communicating with the British public – but he may find it easier said than done, says fellow Brexiteer Ann Widdecombe.

The former Tory minister and ex-MP for Maidstone speaks from a position of experience given her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010.

And she warned the erstwhile Brexit Party leader-turned-GB News presenter he would not have it all his own way.

The show returned for its 23rd series on Monday, with Mr Farage joining 11 other contestants in the Australian jungle.

Explaining his decision to sign up, Mr Farage – who is reported to have been paid a fee of £1.5million – told hosts Antony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: “I’m known for politics, for Brexit, and I’m a hero to some people and an absolute villain to millions.

“In the jungle you’re going to find the real me. You might like me more, you might dislike me more, but you will at least find out.”

However, Ms Widdecombe, who was famously partnered with Anton Du Beke in series 9 of the popular dance competition, suggested it might be more difficult than Mr Farage imagined to get his point across.

She told Express.co.uk: “Don’t forget the editors have the final say.

“I mean, remember George Galloway went on Big Brother to talk about the Respect Party.

“But we never heard about the Respect Party because the editors wanted something different. He ended up pretending to be a cat.

“Strictly was quite fun and in an odd way Nigel is probably enjoying himself on I’m a Celebrity, I’m not saying he won’t.

“But I’m suspending judgement until we see what actually happens.”

On Tuesday, Mr Farage and Youtuber Nella Rose took part in the “Jungle Pizzeria” challenge, during which they were required to eat pizzas topped with cockroaches and sheep udders.
