The suspect in the Dublin knife attack is in a coma and may have permanent brain damage after sustaining serious brain injuries.

Detectives probing the attack which left four members of the public, including three children, stabbed on Parnell Square East, believe the injuries sustained by the attacker might be permanent.

Investigations may hit a block should the suspect not awake from the coma, with the Force wanting to speak with the individual about his alleged part in the attack. It could be some time before this is possible though, the Irish Mirror reported.
