Rishi Sunak’s political enemies have allegedly been plotting the demise of his career in a central London Italian restaurant. The Prime Minister is under heavy fire from both the Right and Left of his party, and now it has emerged those on the Tory Right, including allies of sacked-Home Secretary Suella Braverman, have been meeting at a restaurant in the posh Covent Garden area to work out a plan to bring him down.

The cunning group is made up of eurosceptic MPs and political advisers, the MailOnline reports. The group met at Giovanni’s, “tucked away in a historic alley”, to mull over their plan to topple Mr Sunak. The recent wave of negative stories about the Prime Minister was reportedly referred to as a “grid of s***” at one of the group’s meetings.

The concerted effort to undermine the PM comes against the backdrop of Suella Braverman’s departure from the Home Office and Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick’s resignation – after he decided he could no longer support the Government over its immigration policy and record.

Ms Braverman was sacked by Mr Sunak and following her exit from the cabinet, penned a withering letter to the Prime Minister. She accused the Tory Party leader of “betrayal” over his failure to handle the small boats crisis. She accused him of having “manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver” on key policies, and said his “distinctive style of government means you are incapable of doing so”.

Even a five per cent bounce from a new leader would save a decent number of seats. [Sunak] can’t win on the legislation, because every wing of the party is p***** off for one reason or another.”

It comes as rightwing Tory MPs set out their demands to Rishi Sunak over the emergency Rwanda bill. Earlier this week, The European Research Group (ERG) of Tory Brexiteers met with representatives of the Common Sense Group and New Conservatives to thrash out conditions on the emergency legislation due to be tabled in days to allow deportation flights to go ahead.

Don’t miss…
