It is believed that among the responders is an air ambulance, police divers and coastguard crews all working together on the scene.
In a statement, the force said: "South Wales Police was called shortly after 10am this morning with a report of a car having gone into the water at Swansea Marina. Officers attended along with colleagues from other emergency services. More detail will follow as soon as available."
The Welsh Ambulance Service (Central and West) has confirmed that it was at the scene earlier today, but has since left.
A spokesperson for the organisation noted that one car was involved in the incident.
Maritime Quarter Residents Association Swansea noted that access to Swansea Marina is severely restricted.
In a statement on Facebook they said: "Access to the South Dock of the marina is severely restricted due to an ongoing serious incident."
The area is understood to ben cordoned off with police tape.
